Today was day 1 of our homeschooling journey. I will say Bumblebee loved it.
She did her workbooks with no problems at all by herself. She memorized Matthew 19:14 almost all the way. She had a little trouble while I was reading to her when I let her write/draw but as soon as I had her put the pencils down she listened to the books and answered the questions correctly.
This afternoon we will finish up with the fun musical things with Ladybug.
I think it will take a few weeks to get everything going smoothly she had a few moments where she had trouble paying attention but that is why we are easing into the school year <3
I think having a desk for her to work at would be best because she didn't care for sitting on the couch much while doing the workbooks. She wanted to sit back but her books were to big for the lap tray we have.
I also want to get her math workbooks spiral bound for easier lessons. Other then that it was a great morning. Bonus we had all her paper work down in 2 hours which was awesome.
I dont know how much she learned so I asked her what she learned today and she said I dont know but when I asked her questions about each subject she knew what we learned. Its been over an hour since we got done and i asked her these questions:
where did God come from?
Did God have parents?
What numbers did we learn about?
How many days did it take God to create everything?
Where did the trees, rocks and everything else come from?
She repeated her verse Matthew 19:14 as good as she could.
She told me what we studied in phonics, she told me the date, and she reminded me that she had to write letters.
So while I didn't think she learned anything she could answer all the questions for me.
We are doing only Monday, Wednesday and Fridays with the curriculum and Tuesdays and Thursday's as review for a few months keeping it light for all of us.
I don't want to overload her work days at first. She is so excited and wants to keep going but I had to make her stop when the little one woke up.
With Heart of Dakota having everything laid out for us it was easy to follow along with.
In Bible study she learned verse-
Matthew 19:14 And Jesus said let the little children come to Me and do not forbid them for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.
In devotions for children she was taught that God has no beginning or end that he is eternal, and that God has no parents and he was here before anything else.
Science discovery taught about God creating everything in only 6 days.
Math was pretty easy for her since she knows her numbers but it is good to review all this before learning new things.
Phonics today was mmm and ssss sounds
She is also doing a morning calendar each morning which she really seems to enjoy. She loves getting to use markers. Lol
We still have a few things to do but those are just for fun stuff.
I hope everyday goes like today did.

Yay school supplies
As we approach our starting date for school Bumblebee and I get even more excited. She asks every day if we can school now. :)
I am starting to get my stuff all organized and have tried a few different things but none seem to be a set up that works with me. We are not workbox type people I can tell that all ready. I like to have everything we need for the day in one place so I will be setting it all out the night before. I have a mild case of OCD when it comes to certain things and this is one of them.
I went school supply shopping the other day. Spent less then $30.00 and got everything we need except mass amounts of paper even got a medium sized milk crate for .99 and a large tote with a lid for 4 dollars at staples. What a great find that was since they are usually so expensive.
I put all of her books for day to day use in the tote with the milk crate in the middle full of the artsy/crafty stuff in it. That way everything is all together and Ladybug can't get into it. I will store it either on the table or under. Since we don't have a room just for schooling this seems to be best for us.
With Heart of Dakota everything is all laid out for you so all you have to do is read the Teachers Manual so to make it a little easier on me to get to the page I need I took it to be spiral bound. I removed the cover myself and used a blow dryer to heat the glue up so I could remove the pages I didn't need. The lady at staples made an honest mistake and put the rhymes back in with the guide instead of having them 3 hole punched but I am kind of glad she did. Now they are all still together and with it being spiraled its not to bad to open to them.
I don't know what day we are going to start but I know we are both ready and excited about it.

almost time to start
Today i ordered the last of our books for homeschool. we are so excited to get started. as soon as i am all healed up from my hysterectomy we will begin :)
We also picked the name for our homeschool we are going to be
New Creation Christian Academy.
our verse for the school is:
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Our colors and logo will be purple and teal butterflies.
My daughter has named our classroom the pink elephant. Not sure why but that's what she picked and who am I to argue. :)
My plan for this blog is to write in once a week with pictures and posts about our favorite parts of LHFHG.
Sometimes I may do more then that but that is my goal.
I hope it helps someone decide if HOD is right for them.
